I am studying Media Art & Design. Right now I am interested in (digital) material(ity), the combination of old and new techonologies/design methods, and yeah...actually the avantgarde of the 1910s and 20s.
How to be modern today?
To be modern in art once meant to create fractions. To work non-representational, but not figurative anymore or to substitute material with language. Now, that it seems like all the fractions have been created, to be modern today means to overcome these fractions and their boundaries. In a brutal genre mixing way that uses the specialties of all the ingredients we mixed together. For one thing to develop a method to fight this society. For another thing to get rid of terms like "modern".
